The 665 metre Sea Cliff Bridge is a highlight along the Grand Pacific Drive. The bridge has become an icon to the people of Wollongong and the world, once again welcoming tourists annually to this picturesque coastal road. Opened in December 2005, the Sea Cliff Bridge offers visitors the chance to get out of the car and stretch their legs. It is also a great viewing platform for migrating whales heading north/south during migrating season.
The Sea Cliff Bridge is accessible via pubic transport. Coalcliff station has trains running seven days. There is a steep incline from the train station to the bridge; the walk will take approximately 15 minutes from station to bridge. Bus stops are located on either side of the Sea Cliff Bridge. Stanwell Park is a picturesque coastal village and northern suburb of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It is the northernmost point of the Illawarra coastal strip and lies south of Sydney's Royal National Park. It is situated in a small valley between Bald Hill to the north, Stanwell Tops to the west and Mount Mitchell to the south. It has two lagoons from the village’s two creeks, Stanwell and Hargrave Creeks and a beach running between headlands.
Stanwell Park is famous for paragliding and hang gliding activities from Bald Hill down to its beach, which lies nested between high sea cliffs. Rock climbing can be done at Stanwell Tops which offers a view over the village. A feature is the beach with its two lagoons.
Kiama's famous Blowhole is the largest in the world! A viewing platform with disabled access gives good views of Kiama blowhole. This landmark has attracted people to the region for over 100 years, was first sighted by George Bass when he anchored his whale boat in the sheltered bay, now known as Kiama harbour, in December 1797. It is estimated that 900,000 people visit the Blowhole per year to view the spectacular plumes of water that can be seen when the seas are running from the south east.
Only a short distance from the town centre and railway station, the Kiama blowhole has picnic areas and rock pool nearby. The Kiama Visitors Information Centre are located nearby and are open 9am to 5pm. Public Toilets are always open, and @Milk and Honey Cafe is located next to the Visitors Information Centre.
